Rhiannon

Magazine review

During our class on Tuesday we discussed the texts we brought in as a group. Each narrative was very different and interesting. I personally had a narrative coming from a male "host" at a strip club. In my opinion, this specific narrative was really neat because of the difference of perspective. Usually, when you think about a strip club you think about the dancers or the customers, so having a different perspective was really interesting to read. Garret's narrative was very original, it spoke of a woman who had a brain disorder and her daily struggle with it. The disorder was called prosopagnosia which is a hereditary neurological disorder. This class period was very interesting.

  1. I have to agree with your statement about your own article Rhiannon> I could personally think as to why it was so interesting until you mentioned the idea of different perspectives. Though I do think it is interesting because of the different types of people who go there does that mean it has different perspectives? If the same guy... the "host"... is describing the scene in which you are envisioning, how is that different perspectives?

  2. Your article was very intriguing to me Rhiannon. I think it's always good to get to hear everyone's side of the story in life. It opens your mind to new ideas and can all around form a deeper understanding of various life obligations. I actually have a friends who were bouncers, or "host's" of local music concerts. They're all buff guys, and they all really care about the people they're watching over. They're also hard asses, so It's nice to keep them around. They're company can make you feel a bit more safe in situations. Over-all I appreciate your article. Thanks for sharing with us!

  3. Keeping with the theme of different perspectives, I totally understand that a new viewpoint is incredibly alluring. As a storyteller, I find that the fastest way to destroy my writers block is to imagine a main character who's perspective we rarely see. I normally end up creating giving an unoriginal archetype to a person who's normally never attributed these skills. It's just a slight mix-up, but the result feels fresh, and this can often be enough to motivate an entire story.

  4. Rhiannon, I was thoroughly intrigued by the story you brought in and shared with us. It was interesting to me because strip clubs aren't usually in my daily discussions and learning a bit about what really goes on in them was something new for me. The article being from the bouncer's perspective was a great idea because he sees what goes down in these clubs first hand. Thanks for bringing in such a great article!
